I found this site while looking for large data set with real data to play it.

And here is the data that I may end up using:

Keep Copies

I like to collect information like that, it comes in handy.

For instance a Complete List of Counties in the USA, All the Zipcodes etc.

I use lists of names to test software as far as data input making sure that the length of fields for last name and first name are adequate and to make sure the software does not have any problems scaling when dealing with a large amount of names.

I would suggest that you keep available some Multi TeraByte drives to store backup copies of large datasets that you come across.

These can disappear off the Internet very quickly.

For instance right now you can download Music and Video off YouTube  such as some great performances by Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix and others.

There are always people trying to put up gates so that access goes through them and you have to pay them.

The Artists Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix are no longer with us but I expect sooner or later someone will come along who had absolutely no connection to the creation of that material and wasn't even born when it was created but they will use political connections and payoffs for new laws to make sure that everyone has to pay a price to them for access.
