archive.org has a lot of all images, videos, and audios on a wide range of subjects,  all for free download.  Like the old radio shows?  Martin and Lewis, Fort Laramie, Sam Spade, X Minus 1, CBS Radio Mystery Theater, etc.  Want to listen to the radio broadcasts and reports of the Normandy landings as they filtered in and the leaders of governments-in-exile of Nazi-occupied nations made broadcasts (with following translations by the network) to their countrymen?  There's enough material there to keep just about any taste occupied for years.

There's so much crap on TV at the moment that I find myself listening to these old radio shows more and more.

I have a CD with 24 tunes.

Notable -
  • Juke Box Saturday Night - everyone was broke, "there's a war on, y'know", but they still had fun
  • Stormy Weather - sung by Lena Horne.  Gosh that gal just exuded sex.  Just remembered a quote of hers "Always be smarter than the people you work   for".
  • Comin' In on a Wing and a Prayer - 1943 was the first year of of bombing raids from England - high casualties.
  • When the Lights Go On Again - a glimmer of hope for the end
  • (This will be on the mid-term) As Time Goes By - which character in which film says "Play it, Sam"?
Avatar is from the cover of the November 2007 National Geographic.  Fair use is assumed.

I wonder who it was who first coined the corollary to that, namely "Never sleep with anyone crazier than yourself".  Adam or Eve, probably.
