I know you're just being funny,  but I do want to respond seriously.

Alcohol is a serious dehydration agent.  What we call a "hangover" is largely an acute dehydration event.  Taking an alcoholic drink when your body is short of water is a step in the wrong direction.

Having said that,  I still like a cool one (Sam Adams) on a hot day!

WE - great article... thanks!

I think the point the study might have missed is that... while it's true your body will go GREAT distances in holding onto it's own water when you don't get enough - continuing to allow it to do that slows down other important processes (metabolism, muscle reconstruction, liver function, etc...).

They count coffee towards water intake?

hmmmm...

All I know is what my body tells me.  Coffee never seems to make me feel "good" in the sense of hydrated.  Everyone is different.
