Discussions - Public / Re: Damore's Class Action Lawsuit Against Google

I am so glad that James Damore didn't let this go.  I haven't read his entire lawsuit but I have read some things that make it clear that you need to be re-educated if you don't agree with their liberal dogma.  Google is disgusting and its a shame that the company has become so powerful that it can do whatever it wants.

We the People, have a lot of work to do to take down these out of control enterprises.  They are a threat to us all.

I think a lot of people are crazy because they listen to the lies spewed by the MSM.  Did you ever watch some of the Weather Channel coverage of storms lately?  You would swear the world was going to end today because its cold outside.  Every storm or cold snap is now Armageddon.  The cold temperatures are actually part of global warming, according to that weather guru, Al Gore.

NJ is full of liberal nuts and they're a bunch of babies.  They live in an alternate universe, IMO.  I'm glad my part of NJ is more like PA than North Jersey.  This is farm country.  People hunt here.  They grow their own food.  Everyone has a gun.  I've seen a couple of flip-flop wearers on occasion here.  They're usually heading for the Starbucks. Not only do they not know how to dress in winter, they can't make their own damn coffee.

British snark is the best.  The processor flaws shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  Big Brother is always watching.

You can get Windows 10 pretty useable if you take the time to edit the taskbars, put back the run line, administrative tools and things like that.  You have to uninstall all the crap programs that come with Windows 10 and disable unneeded services.  Its just a very tedious process and if you've never customized a PC you wouldn't know what to do.  As usual, MS has moved things around or renamed them so you can't find what you're looking for.

Even with MS office, you can customize those horrific ribbon toolbars, but it takes a long time to do.  I'm sure someone has made a shell program to emulate Windows 7 on a Windows 10 PC.

4-5 inches isn't bad.  I thought you got more snow where you live, Gorn.  In NJ you always get those nasty nor'easters, even if you live inland.  I live in the snowbelt area of NJ so we get some pretty big storms.  Last year we had a big storm that dumped 36 inches of snow.  I had to use a shovel to get the snow off my car.

I lost a big tree today to the wind.  It was probably a 75 footer.  It snapped in the wind like a twig and fell sideways.  If it fell forward in would have reached the house.  The winds have been unrelenting for two days now.  They're really strong here because I live in a higher elevation.  They sound like a train is coming.

Tonight it will be about 3 below 0 with heavy winds and same thing tomorrow.  This feels more like the Arctic than NJ.  Yuk.

I got about 2-3 inches.  I feel blessed it wasn't more.  We usually get tons of snow and my husband pulls out the heavy duty snow blower we have.  We were spared.  Thank you, God!

We're not spared from the absolutely awful wind and cold.  We lost power this morning for 3 hours.  That means no water, no sewer and no cooking.  I don't have a generator and even if I did, I wouldn't be able to power everything in the house.  If they didn't get the power back on, we would have had to leave.

I'm sure not looking forward to the Arctic blast of cold we're going to get over the weekend.

I hate the Windows 10 interface.  Its too bloated for no reason.  I set up a couple of PCs and spent well over an hour customizing them to make them useable.  Get rid of Cortana.  Its an annoying PITA.  It reminds me of Clippy (remember him?) that kept popping up with stupid suggestions in Office 97, only worse.

Unless you buy the professional version of Windows 10, you can't control the Windows updates.  If you have older programs, that could be a problem.  With Windows 7, even the home edition, I can still pick and choose what updates I want to install.

Blah.  One day I'll have to move to it, but when I do I will rework the entire registry to make it look like Windows 7.

FTE, Job and Career Discussion / Re: How many H1B's are in the U.S. ?
« on: December 29, 2017, 03:30:02 PM »
The problem with trying to track the number of H1B's is that the US loses track of the people that overstay their visas.  We haven't enforced those laws for years and the result is that there are a lot more H1Bs than there should be.  That will change under President Trump when he forces Congress to deal with immigration reform in 2018.  Our Congress has been looking the other way at visa violations for at least 20 years, if not longer, because business likes the cheap labor.

Merry Christmas!  I hope all of you have a great holiday time whatever you do.  I got to see my family, who I never see much, and it was a fun time.  My family, like a lot of other families, live far apart, so it was nice to have everyone together.

Those are really nice cards, ilconsiglliere.  I've never sent Christmas cards.  I usually call people and catch up with them or send an email and catch up with them.  Other friends I meet for lunch or dinner sometime around Christmas or New Years.

Try this site.  They're based in Canada and have a lot of good articles about drop shipping.

Its a losing battle trying to get anything Windows to run on a non-Windows OS.  Even if you can, its just a PITA.  MS made sure to keep their stuff proprietary.
