Whatever happened to the lmmigration debate?
« on: September 07, 2008, 02:49:15 pm »
Just wondering why we're not hearing anything about illegal immigration being debated any more.

I do hear of massive government raids on illegals.

Are these raids quietly driving them all back to Mexico/Colombia, etc.?

Both presidential candidates are in love with illegals and want as many as possible to enter the US, without legal consequence.

If either party speaks for stricter enforcement or increased penalties, they lose the latino vote.  If they are openly soft on illegals, they lose the red-state vote.

By enforcing now, ICE makes it look like no new legislation is needed.

And of course the housing bust has dried up the building trades jobs.  I read an estimate that a million illegals had already left the country.
