Which is your favorite free anti-virus software product?  And why do you like it?

I used to like AVG best, but for some reason I find now that its downloads for updates are really slow. Don't know why.

Been using AVAST! a lot lately, it has a nice simple-but-complete interface and seems to do a good job (so far as I can tell).  Also it runs under either Windows or Linux.

Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D are pretty good for the anti-spyware tools.

Microsoft MRT versus MSE
« Reply #3 on: December 17, 2010, 11:30:18 pm »
@Unix...

Is Microsoft MRT automatically installed?  As far I as can tell on my XP systems it was automatically installed as part of the MS Updates process.

In contrast, one has to specifically download and install Microsoft MSE.

Am I correct on these points?

Thank you.
