WH4L platform migration
« on: February 05, 2010, 04:09:27 pm »
Anyone here go through this yet (WH4L= web host 4 life dot com)?  They began migrating my sites with them on 2/4 and estimate completion  to be within a week.  The new platform sites are in QA status and we are still pointed to the old platform.  The new platform looks sleeker, anyone on it and notice any changes (positive of negative)?  Thanks!

I am not on this host so I don't know.

Have you tried the forums at webhostingtalk.com?

Have you been impacted either way with this change?

Thanks for the site reference, I am checking it out!  No, negative impact so far.  My sites were left on the old platform until they QA'd on the new one and I requested a repoint.  The automated migration scripts were not enough in my case, so for me it was easier just to set up my existing sites on the new platform and decide when to cut over. Different look and feel from the old platform, but better.  Overall performance is better so far too.  If I find a better host I may switch, my current contract is up with these folks in April...

I left WH4L and went to HostGator. I really like Hostgator.  Nice prices, a much more professional host with nice features and tools, and much more responsive support.

Any hassle canceling WH4L?  Which package at hostgator works for what you are doing?

I believe I have the lowest cost plan. I am just hosting an informational site. Not database driven.

I can't recall if I had a hassle closing WH4L.  It was several years ago.
