PC Relocator - Ultra Control

I did a relocator from my hp 6460 (wind 9  to a new hp a350e (windows xp home, using the automatic setting, usb to usb cable transfr) afterwards the connection icons had red x's over them, didn't recognize the existence of the modem. I refused the transfered files and the modem worked, had net access.

Why did the system loose the modem connection after the files had transfered over?
