If you died and could come back as a person or thing, what would that be?

Barbara Walters asked Michelle Obama that question and then the show cut to a commercial.  My wife and I thought about it and we both had the same thought:  wiser versions of ourselves.

When the show came back, Michelle answered that she would choose the Obama's pet dog, Bo, because Bo, from all appearances, led a pleasant life.   

How would you answer?

I don't know that I would want to come back as a different person, but maybe live in different times or a different location.  I would love to have seen the New World before it got so over developed... and maybe as a songbird?

My mother always said if there were such a thing as reincarnation she would like to come back as an otter.  They look sleek (she had a lifelong weight problem), and they always look like they are having fun.

I'd also want to come back as one of my pets.  Which is rather a paradox, but ... there you go.  I'm dubious about coming back as just anybody's pet because too many people feed their animals to obesity and an early death from heart disease, or let them run free and get hit by cars etc.  But to be the pet of someone who cares properly... yep, that's the life.

Yep.  We often tell people that greyhounds are catlike.  A few weeks ago we got a fireplace insert, and it actually warms up the house instead of drawing cold air in like the fireplace used to.  Anyway, now when we have a fire, both dogs are in the living room toasting themselves to unconsciousness, exactly like cats.  But yeah, they live the life of royalty.  If only I could retire like that!
