One suggestion: if you add a banner image, please do not make it large and please do not make it obviously targeted for contractors. For example, if I was looking at "Rea$ Rate$" durin break and other FTEs walked by, they could read the banner from 15 feet and not be too pleased....

Another suggestion or two.  Consider designating a moderator for each forum, rather than one or two for the entire site.  I see that you've already received several hundred hits on the site already, so once you get your forums up, you may be surprised by the traffic you receive.

Another suggestion is to take a poll/vote on making changes or instituting new policies on the board down the road.  Don't just accept one or two complaint emails from people who have issues and then come here and radically change everything without consultation.  Remember, for every whining complainer who contacts you, there are probably two or three that feel just the opposite.

You might try creating a forum so that people with complaints can post their complaint right there, openly, and in public.  They don't have to post under their real name, they can post anonymously.  Then, the issue can be voted upon by the registered users and contributors of/to the board.

I know this is just getting started and there are a lot of little things to configure. Good job so far! Can you make the display of the messages show the hierarchy so that we can see which messages are in reply to which messages? An indicator for new messages would be good, too.

I was just looking at one of my posts and noticed that the time logged for my entry appears to be PDT. Is this the right time for the server?

A small detail, but can be confusing.

The site is growing on me.

I like what you've done.  Keep it up - please!!!!

Do you think Janet would let you "just bring over" the Watercooler section to here??  I'm not even sure if that is possible with EZBoard, but it sure would provide some history / continuity that would be really nice.

I imagine this would have to be broached somewhat cautiously (and probably by one of the RR asst moderators) in order to "fly".

I sincerely hope you don't take that approach (of affiliating with Queen Janet's board).  It would open too many opportunities for her to excercise her perceived authority over you in exchange for your continued affiliation there.  I'm not confident in her ability to handle any additional authority.

I agree. Just start out fresh. Hey, you know what, this board already is more positive, even though the intent is not to be a happy-as-larks board. It is amazing what blossoms when freedom is experienced. Kinda like when I went from FTE to contracting.  :)

What do we do when we want to diss the bork of the week?

Do we continue to do stuff like this? :

T*ksyst*ms

I'm fine with the Queen's old rule if there is a reason to keep it.  I think 90% of the readers can decode the above string.

PLEASE ditch the dark background, makes the colors too hard

on the eyes. Thanks. Oh, perhaps I just happened to catch it while you're experimenting with settings, you'll find some you like better as you go along. Cool.

I second the suggestion on the color.  Black is hard to take and the blue on black is impossible to read.

Also had some CSS cascade problems with the navigation masthead in some of the forums.  I add my support to the request to maintain a simple color scheme.

Reading the text in the footer is difficult.  You just changed the footer background to blue and the text is difficult to read.  Just an fyi.

Wow! Cool!

I signed in and was pleasantly surprised at the changes! After I get over the shock, maybe I can give more feedback. Good job!
