Paying for posts and revenue sharing
« on: April 26, 2009, 06:41:05 pm »

Paying for posts.

This is a great model which I am glad to say has proved viable since 2005.

Currently no one is getting super rich but I hope discussion forums in the future evolve more and more to this model.
It seems only right that after hosting and band width expenses are paid for the rest of the revenue generated by ads on a site should be shared by the people who post new content, the moderators, some should be set aside for anyone creating new forum functionality with software and anyone who increases viewership.

Remember the number of people who post are only a small fraction of the lurkers who actually visit the site.

The original founder of EZBoard was going to a shared revenue model but the new owners seem to have a different viewpoint on the subject.

Here are some currently pay for content places.

Seth Godin was a founder in 1995 of Squidoo which pays for posts.

Many lensmasters earn more than $1,000 a year from Squidoo, Some make $10,000. Others are happy with $40.00 or $4.
