ComputerConsultantsForum.com submitted to Directories
« on: March 23, 2009, 01:32:01 pm »
I submitted our forum to a half dozen web Directories including DMOZ and Directorysubmit.org.

The goal is to have our site visible to those who have sufficient interest in our subject to join our community.  The goal is not to sell people on visiting our site, but rather to have our site visible to those who are computer consultants or contractors and want to discuss our board's issues.

I should add that it takes time for new submissions to show up in Directories...up to 6-8 weeks for DMOZ, for example.

That always blows minds.  Now that we're used to same-day, if not instantaneous, shipping and 2nd-day delivery, it's hard to remember 6 to 8 week to 90-day delivery from Monkey Ward or Sears Lowbuck (well, the catalogs served several other uses ).  On market day, you drove your team and wagon to town and stopped by the railroad freight office to see if your shipment had arrived - a whole different pace.
