I don't see what value this message adds.

No value, perhaps. What is your objection?

I think I'm developing dyslexia.  I type something and post it and see something like "anything"  when I meant to type "anyone".  Or  something that's just plain bad English.  I probably compulsive about it, but I just don't like to see my mistakes.

It doesn't matter.

I probably compulsive?   (Should be I'm probably compulsive.)

Well, the good thing to seeing when someone has changed something is that you see it. With this being a discussion board and opposing viewpoints being the norm, having someone say something then change it later can make a debate or discussion impossible to follow if you don't know the person isn't being consistent. It was never meant to track how many times you have spelling or grammar changes so if you're worried about that, don't be, just do whatever works and stick to your message if you have to edit it later.

Another possible thing you can do it this...

edit:  I'm just putting this example of an edit, here's what I did - typed an example.  You can be straightforward with what you changed in notes after the message.

No - it's a built-in feature

The "edited times" count is the number of times that the entire post has been saved with new changes. It doesn't count anything any more specific.

Like JBB said: if the topic is controversial, an edited post may be useful to indicate that the person retracted their words.

I've noticed that when I first post a message, I can edit it a few times without triggering this message. The board software apparently consider the edits close enough to the original posting that it doesn't flag it.
