Away for Two Weeks
« on: September 28, 2002, 05:30:31 pm »
Be nice here.  I may check in occassionally, but am going on a truly work-free vacation to Hawaii and Las Vegas!

Oh yeah, quit being so damn negative here!!!  ;)   I had to go back to that old board for some sunshine!  ROFLMAO!

How about designating some moderators who can guard the board in your absence?

So far, I haven't seen anyone posting here that needs guarding.  I'm only concerned about what may happen.  We may see some of the shills and troublemakers from the other board follow us over here and start some nonesense.

No Need - Honeymoon Period

The professional trolls have not discovered this site yet.

Although you can be sure they will eventually.

And there haven't been any long discussions spotlighting slimy tactics of Borks or others so that they have not felt compelled to come here and start inserting irrelevant nonsense to change the subject and to distract everyone from adding to the particular discussion thread that they want to stop.

A New Culture
« Reply #6 on: September 30, 2002, 06:55:39 am »
What's going to be interesting is what kind of culture emerges over here.  There are a large number of people who will tend to desist from certain kinds of posts with no more criticism than the implied criticism of silence.

There are a few who thrive on antagonizing the prevailing culture.  We all do that from time to time, but there are only a few who make that their steady diet.

As for myself,  I'm probably overdoing it on "nostalgia"  right now.  I'll bet many readers are bored.  I'll get over it,  and get back to the present and the future, real soon.  But hey,  the premier of "american Dream" was last night,  so that's my excuse!

I think the nostalgia is great. Keep it coming! If someone doesn't want to read, they don't have to. I think it is great stuff. If they want to think we are old behind-the-times farts, not only will they be wrong, they will continue to wonder why experience wins out many times. They will either learn that or look for better pastures for their skill set. Either way, we all win.  :)
